The Elk Point Sanitation District (EPSD) was formed in 1969 in order to proceed with the sewering of the area in accordance with Federal requests that sewage export from the Lake Tahoe Basin be accomplished by 1970. The initial project consisted of constructing 2,310 lineal feet of the Tahoe-Douglas Interceptor sewer with appurtenances (including house laterals up to the property lines) and necessary pump stations.
